Welcome to my Website
I have been taking photographs for over 60 years, so you might say that at 84 I'm the worlds oldest emerging photographer. Those early years were called by many the "Golden Age of Photography" punctuated by that iconic show at MoMA "The Family of Man". Most of us agreed that the purpose of this relatively new medium was to educate and stimulate the mind while delighting that senses. Images were supposed to tell a story through the combination of striking subject matter and compelling composition. Even when these photographs were accompanied by a story the images themselves were usually straightforward and clear enough not to require much explanation.
It is an honor to be included in the permanent collections of several museums including The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Museum of the City of New York and The 9/11 Memorial Museum.
The images in this site should give you a very good "picture" of what I have been doing these many years. They are divided into different subjects as well as books. I have been told that less is more and strict objective editing is needed to to prevent viewers from developing that glassy eyed look known as" viewers burnout". I have attempted to conform to this theory but remember I was born during the great depression when more was always preferable to less.
Think of this site as if it were a buffet. Fill your plate once and you can come back as many times as you like. Don't worry weill keep the food hot for you.
